Awareness and safer roads for everyone that uses them.
For Toyota, safety is very important and we want to see that people can travel safely, whether in their cars or also outside of cars. Educating about road safety is important, and it starts from a young age. We want to do motorsport in a safe environment. We want to drive fast, we want to share the passion for the speed, but we do it in a safe environment. Every human life is important and we need to remember that.
Jari-Matti Latvala, TGR-WRT Team Principal
TGR-WRT joined forces with CFAO Motors Kenya during the week of the 2024 Safari Rally to launch the #RoadSafety4All campaign which seeks to increase awareness and create safer roads for everyone that uses them.
As part of the campaign, primary schools across Kenya are receiving 10,000 reflective wristbands to help children to be more visible especially when navigating busy roads.
Our Team Principal Jari-Matti Latvala was joined by TGR ambassador and three-time Safari Rally winner Juha Kankkunen alongside CFAO Motors Kenya Managing Director, Arvinder Reel, to help launch the initiative at Lang’ata Road Primary School in Nairobi.
A couple of days later, the TGR-WRT service area in Naivasha welcomed children from the nearby Milimani Primary School, who met with Jari-Matti and our drivers Kalle Rovanperä, Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), every four minutes a child loses their life on roads around the world, with many more being seriously injured. Children are among the most vulnerable road users, and a disproportionate number of victims globally come from poor backgrounds.
The launch of #RoadSafety4All is just the beginning of a long-term goal for TGR-WRT to help promote safer road journeys, not only in Kenya but in locations around the world where it goes rallying.
